If your wallet typically has GHS 100, but once a month you hold GHS 5,000 to pay school fees, Basic isn't enough — you're under-cover on the day it most matters. Match the ceiling to the peak, not the average.

- Pick the highest amount your wallet has held in the last year. Top-ups for school fees count. Rent collected from tenants counts. The MoMo balance you held for a week while saving for that purchase counts.
- Round up. Pick the plan whose theft cover is at least that amount.
- Re-evaluate quarterly. Your earning level changes; your cover should track it. You can upgrade or downgrade in the app — no medical exam, no paperwork.
When Basic is enough
If your max balance is under GHS 1,000 and you never hold business funds, Basic is genuinely fine. The premium is GHS 24/year — less than a single Trotro ride per week.
When you should be on Premium
- You run a small business through MoMo and have peak balances above GHS 5,000
- You receive remittances from family abroad (those land in MoMo and you may sit on them for days)
- You manage rent or savings groups (susu, "esusu") with funds passing through your wallet
For these cases, Basic's GHS 1,000 theft cover is the price of a phone, not the price of the funds. Pay GHS 10/month and sleep better.
